Cromer Road Primary School

Year 3

Dear Families,

Welcome back! We hope you had a lovely half term and that the children are feeling refreshed and ready for the weeks ahead.

This half term in English, we will write instructions based on Can I Build Another Me?, take part in whole-school learning for World Book Week, and use The King Who Banned the Dark to create persuasive writing and an alternative ending. In Maths, we will focus on length, perimeter and area, as well as fractions, while continuing to develop times tables and reasoning skills.

In RE, we will explore the question “What is the best way for a Jew to lead a good life?” The children will learn about the importance of agreements and commitment, the story of Abraham, and how Jewish people show commitment through marriage and by making positive choices in the world. They will also reflect on their own actions and what it means to live a good life. In Science, we will investigate forces and magnets, and in History we will discover what life was like in Ancient Egypt. In Art, the children will join 2D shapes to make 3D structures. In PSHE, our unit is Healthy Me, and in PE (Tuesdays) the children will develop their dance skills through an Ancient Egyptian theme. We are also looking forward to our Egyptian workshop and the Reading Stay and Learn session on Tuesday 10th March.

Our school value this half term is Kindness. The children are encouraged to care for one another and be considerate of others’ feelings.

We look forward to a busy and exciting half term and to seeing you at parents’ evening.

Kind regards,
Miss Carroll and Miss Rzesna
